Privacy
This site is deliberately minimal. It sets no cookies, embeds no analytics or tracking services, uses no social media plugins, and loads no fonts or scripts from third-party servers. Personal data is processed only where it is technically unavoidable or where you provide it yourself.
The site runs on a server rented from IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany, under a data processing agreement. Each request is logged automatically: page requested, date and time, volume of data transferred, browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL and IP address. This serves the secure operation of the site (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Logs are deleted after seven days at the latest and are not combined with other data.
If you write to me, your details are used solely to answer your enquiry (Art. 6 (1) (f), or (b) where a contract is involved) and are kept until the matter is settled.
Subscriptions use double opt-in: after entering your address you receive an email with a confirmation link, and only once you click it is your address added. Your email address, together with the time and IP address of the subscription and confirmation, is stored as proof of consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You may withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in every message; your address is then deleted.
The newsletter is sent using CleverReach, a service of CleverReach GmbH & Co. KG, Schafjückenweg 2, 26180 Rastede, Germany. Your data is stored on servers in Germany. CleverReach processes it solely on my behalf under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. CleverReach records whether a message was opened and whether links in it were clicked, so that the newsletter can be kept relevant. You may object at any time, most simply by unsubscribing.
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent. An informal email to the address above is enough. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; the competent one here is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.
